ONEONTA, N.Y.—The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team came away with a 35-9 win tonight versus rival SUNY Cortland in dual-meet action. The Red Dragons got wins at 125, 157 and 184 lbs. and received four forfeit wins to account for seven victories against its rival, who were ranked #16 in the latest Div. III poll.

Sophomore David Bailen (Airmont/Suffern) (Airmont, Suffern) led off for Oneonta with a tech fall at 125 lbs. He defeated John Zastempowski 15-0 in a match that ended early in the third period.

At 157 lbs., sophomore JP Sala (Islip, Islip) trailed late in the match 3-2 entering the final period before he was able to score an escape and a takedown to grab the lead 5-3. His opponent, Adam Willman, scored an escape to pull to within one before Sala closed out the match with another takedown for the final of 7-4.

Senior Brian Kramer (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) (Hopkinton, MA, Hopkinton) registered Oneonta's final win at 184 lbs. over Alexander Meyers, 7-3.

Cortland's (11-4-1) wins tonight came at 149, 165 and 197 lbs. all by decision. Freshman Jake Beichner recorded an 8-2 win against freshman Dan Graff (LaGrangeville/Arlington) at 149 lbs.

Freshman James Ondris took a 3-1 decision in overtime against Oneonta sophomore Frankie Provenzano (Islip/Islip) at 165 lbs.

Junior Carl Korpi recorded Cortland's final win at 197 lbs., winning 8-2 over Oneonta freshman Derek Wignall (Deposit/Deposit).

Oneonta will be in action again this weekend when they compete in the New York State Collegiate Championships at Binghamton University.
