The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team picked up a 23-18 road victory last night at King's College, as they ran its dual-meet record to 8-7 overall.  The Red Dragons won five of the 10 bouts including one by pin, two by major decision and one by forfeit.

After a close 4-3 decision loss at 125 lbs., Oneonta picked up its first points of the night when the Monarchs forfeited at 133 lbs.

Senior Ben Mikac (Williamsville/Williamsville East) took a 12-1 major decision against Giacomo Dinicola to increase Oneonta's lead to 10-3.

King's then won the next three bouts by decision to take a 12-10 lead entering 174 lbs.  Senior Dan Graff (LaGrangeville/Arlington) took care of his combatant by pinning him early in the third period to give Oneonta the lead back at 16-12.

Shane Stark of King's then posted a pin at 184 lbs. to seize the lead back for the Monarchs at 18-16.

In the final two weight classes, seniors Chad Obzud (Cohoes/Lansingburgh) and Stephen Provenzano (Islip/Islip) came through to secure the victory for Oneonta.  Obzud recorded a major decision at 197 lbs. while Provenzano clinched the match with a 9-2 decision at 285 lbs.

Oneonta will have 10 days off before it returns to action at home on Saturday, Feb. 8.  They will host Williams, Wesleyan and Ithaca in the G. Hal Chase Gym beginning at noon.
